On the 5th of September we are showcasing our project ''Growing Beauty'', which we've been working on hands-on since the beginning of the year, and we would like to invite you to learn about it and grow some beauty in this part of the city through a set of workshops, exhibition and cultural acts.
PROGRAM:
🎨 Exhibitions (17:30-20:00)
Growing Beauty
Step inside one of our containers and learn about the process of Growing Beauty project.
🔨 Workshops (17:30-19:30)
We will have three in-parallel workshops that in their individual ways grow beauty in our city. Workshop descriptions are below.
Workshop 1: Grow your own mycelium art piece!
Grow your own Mycelium art piece! Learn how to design and grow objects from mushrooms. A natural, sustainable and biodegradable material from hemp and mushroom's root system. It's a beginner workshop to be introduced into the world of microbes and alternative production.
At the end you can take a self-created mould with your own mushroom material home and watch it grow! (The workshop will be held in English)
Workshop 2: Build a sandbox for wild bees.
We invite you to join us for an exploration of the porous habitats of the city and how they allow
for different non-human inhabitants to coexist with us. We will focus on the sand bed as an
environment for soil-dwelling species like solitary bees / wild bees. Through hands-on
experimentation we will design and build small sand bed prototypes for these inhabitants
together.
Workshop 3: Playbacktheater: Defining moments - stories from our neighborhoods.
We invite you to join us for an exploration of the porous habitats of the city and how they allow
for different non-human inhabitants to coexist with us. We will focus on the sand bed as an
environment for soil-dwelling species like solitary bees / wild bees. Through hands-on
experimentation we will design and build small sand bed prototypes for these inhabitants
together.
🚶 Guided Tour (19:00-19:30)
Take a walk around Frihamnstorget with our guide to see the final outcomes from the different youth work groups!
🎭 Circus Show (19:30-20:00)
To close the day we will have a performative piece on the theme of hope, visions of future and essentially... growing beauty!
Knot to knot is an exploration of communication and connection between the two artists- how we are tied together, and where we can get tied up.
The forces we put on each other with our energy
and emotions are enacted physically, as we explore the impacts we can have on each other without realizing. We want the audience to share the playfulness and joy we find in being intertwined, but also reflect on how easily miscommunication can ensnare us.
