Mushroom Arts & Crafts

The Art of Spore Printing

This workshop will take place in two sessions, each about 45 minutes long. First through hands-on practice, participants will learn how to create mushroom prints, explore patterns, colors and forms to create an original piece of art. After a break of 2 hours and the mushrooms sporulate, we will reunite to discuss the results, critique the art, and talk about best practices. It is intended that participants will come away with their very own unique mushroom print. Not every attempt at mushroom printing is successful, but you will learn the techniques to be able to replicate the process.

Fungastify Your Outfit

There is no better place than the Stockholm Mushroom Festival to wear a mushroom-themed outfit! Join this workshop to make your outfit more fungastic. Sara from Studio Sarameko, an illustrator who is obsessed with drawing mushrooms, will help you decorate your outfit with mushrooms! There will be materials available at the workshop to decorate your outfit, all included in the ticket price. There will be several fungastic decorations at different difficulty levels; you can choose what you want to do upon arrival at the venue. You can, for example, choose to decorate your worn-down T-shirt with ready-made mushroom fabric patches, or make your own mushroom patch with scrap fabrics, or create a mushroom charm or pin to wear, with materials and instructions available at the workshop. What you need to bring is what you want to decorate and a love for fungi. T-shirts, shirts, tote bags, and hats are examples of things you can decorate in this workshop. If you are unsure what to bring, or you have a vision for your mushroom outfit you want to work on in the workshop that you need help with, send a DM to Instagram @studiosarameko, and she will help you.

Living Wine - an exploratory tasting

What happens when wine is allowed to retain more of its own energy - without industrial treatment? When grapes ferment with their naturally occurring yeasts and not with chemical additives? During this tasting, we explore living wines with a clear sense of place, origin and personality. We taste wines that in different ways have a kinship with the expression of the fungus - through earthiness, forest, umami, rot, minerality - or something more elusive. We taste four natural wines that differ in several ways, but which all carry energy, nerve and character. We talk about terroir (French for the uniqueness of the growing location), natural winemaking and what can arise in the meeting between wine and fungus - how aromas, flavours and textures can reflect, enhance and surprise each other. A sensual and curious tasting for both wine enthusiasts and beginners.
