Psilocybin Mushrooms: History and Scientific Renaissance

From ancient rituals to today's clinical research: psilocybin mushrooms have accompanied humanity for thousands of years, and are now making a powerful re-entry into science and public debate. In this lecture, Filip Bromberg takes us on a journey through the history of mushrooms and the renaissance of psychedelic research, while raising his gaze towards the existential, spiritual and cultural questions that are becoming increasingly urgent in a time of growing anxiety and search for meaning. What can these mushrooms teach us about consciousness, healing and our place in the world, both as individuals and as a society?

About the speaker:

Filip Bromberg is a licensed psychologist and one of Sweden's leading voices in psychedelic science and therapy, with over ten years of experience in the field. He is co-founder and former chairman of the Network for Psychedelic Science, and has worked since 2021 to facilitate psychedelic group processes and build community around these issues.

Mushroom forest for everyone -About mushrooms as natural values

Sometimes you don't see the forest for all the trees. And maybe it's not even the trees that are most important? Mushrooms are in many ways the prerequisite for healthy and stable environments and are often good signal species that show other values than just the cubic meter price of pulpwood. What do we want with our forest? Is it reasonable that forestry determines the land use of half the country's surface. Are there other interests and values that weigh just as heavily - or more heavily?

About the speaker:

Patrick Björck is an economist by trade. He has also taught in adult education, at colleges and universities and at folk high schools, with, among other things, the country's first mushroom education courses eligible for student funding. He is a co-founder of the international network of mushroom and plant identifiers in poisoning cases and was one of those who fact-checked the latest book on poisonous mushrooms. Mushrooms and nature conservation are major interests.
